Togo (2021)

Date of issue: 2021
Name of issue: Les arachnides (Arachnids)
Number of arachnid related stamps in issue: 5/?

A great improvement recently in the African issues, switching from the photographic mess of 2019 and moving on with some great art work.

I am presuming these are original drawings from descriptions. They are all species that have been described a long time ago. The artworks all have distinct look. I really enjoy this series.

African stamps are often all similar for the same year, all printed at the same place. It is quite boring actually, just mass production for thematic collectors. You can see similar series from Chad and Sao Tome & Principe.

Interestingly, all spiders shown on stamps are mature males, the only female is the Parasteatoda tepidariorum on the souvenir sheet!
