France (2015)

Date of issue: 2015
Number of arachnid related stamps in issue: 1/12

Series based on several French proverbs. These are self adhesive stamps.

"Araignée du soir, espoir"

Of course, the English translation does not rime, but it means "Evening spider, hope"

The complete version is:

Araignée du matin, chagrin (morning spider, sadness)
Araignée du midi, souci (noon spider, worry)
Araignée du soir, espoir (evening spider, hope)

Sadness in the morning because if a spider is seen working in the morning, that means it is not bothered by dew. If there is no dew, it means rain is come. Worry at noon, because if the spider is working at noon, it means that rain is coming, so one must hurry up. Hope in the evening because if a spider is seen walking around relaxed at dusk, it means that the nice weather will go on.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for inaccurate weather predictions based on this proverb!

France (TAAF) (2018)

Date of issue: 2018 (2015, 2016, 2017)*
Number of arachnid related stamps in issue: 1/5* (see notes)

*They issued one stamp per year of different shape from 2015 to 2018. The 2018 one is the only arachnid related one.

The stamp can be detached from the sheet as a square or as a circle.

Note that the species has been mistakenly capitalized, which is disappointing for a country that has a rich scientific history like France.

The only stamp showing a species from the Toxopidae family.

I really enjoy the simplicity of the artwork of this series in general.

Georgia (1994)

Date of issue: 1994
Number of arachnid related stamps in issue: 1/16

Interesting issue I just discovered thanks to the high resolution scan of the seller. I was able to find a scorpion in this very heavy art work. When I got the item, I was able to find also a spider on the same stamp. That spider is much harder to spot, located right over the "I" and the "A" of "GEORGIA" at the bottom right.
