Eritrea (2001)

Date of issue: 2001
Number of arachnid related stamps in issue: 5/100

This series is cinderella as far as I know. It consists of 20 sheets of four stamps each showing various animals and 20 souvenir sheets with one stamp on each.

I am taking a guess with Brachypelma auratum on this first one, but odds they wanted to depict any "red-legged" Brachypelma spp., probably B. smithi. Of course, I do not support spider taxonomy from a drawing on a stamp!

The fifth stamp on souvenir sheet defines how bogus this series is. First, again, the two completely unrelated animals rule. Second, the perforations on the sheet are not even real! They are part of the drawing. Third, once needs to feel the paper it is printed on to appreciate how cheap it is.
