Please visit here for more information on the Kuril Islands dispute between Japan and the Russian Federation. In the gutter, you can see the islands that are disputed, Iturup, Kunashir, Shikotan and the Habomai rocks.

These are local protest stamps. Apparently, they have been used for mailing within the Russian Federation.

Note also the Argiope sp. eggsac (closed and opened) in the lower gutter of the full sheets.
