Name of issue: Les araignées de la région de l'océan Indien
(Spiders of the Indian ocean region)
Number of arachnid related stamps in issue: 5/125
Every stamp of this series contains two spiders. The first family and species name corresponds to the spider in the back and the other to the spider in the front.
For tarantula enthusiasts, this series contains the only Poecilotheria sp. stamp that I know of.
This series is ridiculously huge, there are 50 souvenir sheets in total, 25 containing one stamp and 25 with four stamps. So 25 themes (or subjects) in total. Because of budget constraints, I decided not to get them all.
I am not sure how many times this series has been reprinted. It is very confusing and I have lost track of the time line. There are some paler sheets, variance in perforation, different deluxe sheets, it is a real mess.
